An Australian journal of fire and steel

Fire, steel and the Australian backyard

Barbecue Grills

Independent long-form writing for Australian backyards, balconies and campgrounds.

Policy

Editorial standards

A barbecue journal that cannot be trusted on heat, gas and fire safety is not worth the charcoal. These are the rules we write under.

Independence

Hardware is described by class and use, not by a media kit. We do not accept payment for a favourable verdict. If a manufacturer supplies a loan grill, we say so in the piece. If a link is paid, guest-posted or otherwise commercial, it is marked rel="sponsored" and disclosed in the copy.

Method

Temperatures, times and safety claims are written for Australian backyard equipment unless we say otherwise. We prefer primary experience and named public rules (fire bans, gas fitting, strata) over folklore. We do not invent test scores.

Corrections

Factual errors are corrected in the article and, if the error was serious, noted at the top. Email the URL and the correction via contact.

Safety

Fire, gas and food-safety passages are general information, not a substitute for a licensed gasfitter, your local fire service or a food-safety authority. When rules vary by state, we say so.
